ETHOS
OUR VISION
At FLANNEL, we don't chase trends or fast fashion; we seek to create timeless pieces that redefine the meaning of effortless style and remain in fashion for years to come. We know our customers collect and treasure our pieces, wearing old FLANNEL with new.
ETHOS
MATERIALS
Our design team is constantly seeking innovative ways to create contemporary and unique products while remaining true to our ethos. Throughout the design process, our team considers printing methods, materials, trims, sampling and more. We welcome new ideas and innovations with an open heart and mind, constantly evolving toward the best long-term solutions to ensure we are as responsible and sustainable as possible.
ETHOS
PRODUCTION
FLANNEL has consciously chosen to work with boutique production houses in Italy, China, India and Indonesia since we first opened our doors in 2007. These niche houses share the same morals and values as our FLANNEL Family: mindfulness, quality, innovation, and a sense of community. Our pieces are created by artisans, the very best in their field, who look to uphold the textile traditions of generations. Our aim is to keep these artisanal families and communities flourishing, along with the generations of knowledge they hold and cherish.
ETHOS
OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
At FLANNEL, we have committed to both our customer and our planet to continue to reduce, reuse and recycle across all aspects of our business. Sustainability is a core principle in our day-to-day operations. We care deeply about the environment and prioritise processes that help to protect it and lighten our footprint.

Frequently Asked Questions
MATERIALS
Yes. FLANNEL exclusively uses faux-fur.
Our cashmere suppliers have their certificate of membership in the Sustainable Fibre Alliance and are in compliance with the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) code of conduct.
FLANNEL uses mulberry silk and spun silk. We are committed to sourcing more sustainable silk and are currently working closely with our production and manufacturing teams to do so.
Our denim production house has professional wastewater and sludge treatment equipment that allows the treated wastewater to reach the discharged standard.
Our faux-shearling footwear and accessories are made from Eco Circle Fibres which use 50% less energy consumption than traditional poly fibres.
Our swimwear is made from recycled, eco-process nylon and lycra.
We work with techniques and electronic pattern systems that allow for minimal offcuts. However, in instances that offcuts are unavoidable and too small for entire garments, we use them to create our bralettes or line accessories in order to avoid using additional fabric and adding to waste.
All of our dyeing and printing factories use environmental protection dye. We do not use formaldehyde or AZO dyes.
There is no PCBs or asbestos used in any of the garment manufacturing processes.
Our Carbon Footprint
They are air-dried to minimise energy consumption.
By the end of 2020, FLANNEL eliminated single-use plastics across our business.
Our products travel from factories in cotton bags to protect them from damage. When purchased, your garment remains in these same cotton bags for you to reuse as a wash-bag or travel bag for intimates, travel bag for make-up, or storage for fruit and vegetables. If you do not wish to take your garment in the cotton bag, we will happily keep and send back to our factories to reuse in our next shipment.
We also provide recyclable hangers to customers who wish to receive their garments hanging.
Our team is working hard to allow for sea freight over air freight as much as possible. Sea freight emits less than a quarter of the CO2e greenhouse gases than air freight.
We are also minimising the transportation of our products, which in turn minimises our carbon footprint. We have implemented a number of processes to make our product allocations between stores more efficient, including consolidation of stock movements and a reduction in the number and frequencies of transfers.
At FLANNEL, we prioritise the quality and finishes of our garments. As a result we receive very few returns, limiting our carbon emissions from transportation and clothing waste.
We are always encouraged to see our customers wearing old FLANNEL with new thanks to the keepsake nature of our collections.
