Lachie's Weekend stay on the Great Ocean Road
Over the long weekend, Lachie - our men's marketing coordinator from FLANNEL Him Albert Park - travelled down to the secluded and serene area of Grey River, located along the world-renowned Great Ocean Road. We spoke to Lachie and gathered the highlights of his weekend away.
“Being from the country myself, I revel in immersing myself in nature and exploring Australia’s landscapes. The Great Ocean Road holds a special place in my heart, not only for its rich history but also for its breathtaking scenery: dramatic cliff faces, expansive ocean and captivating coastal towns located along the drive. Perched along the Great Ocean Road is the quiet cove of Grey River - home to plenty of cosy cottages with enclosed fireplaces, exposed brickwork, views of the morning sunrise over the Southern Ocean and beautiful Australian bushland. I spent most of the weekend with a coffee or cold beer in front of the fireplace, enjoying the serenity in the comfort of my new favourites: the Eamonn Sweater and Magnus Pant.
Close by is the popular beach town of Lorne, a surfer's paradise. I enjoyed many surf trips here with my family during my younger years and could spend hours wandering around, people watching and exploring. It’s also home to the well-known Italian restaurant, Totti’s, which is famous for its wood-fired bread and classic Italian dishes. Totti's was one of my personal highlights. It balances a rustic charm with a contemporary approach which I really liked. The Kingfish Crudo was amazing and super refreshing, the citrus grapefruit cut through the fresh fish so perfectly. The green beans and pine nuts was a simple yet flavoursome dish and the perfect addition to the main course which was the fettuccine pasta with tomato sugo and stracciatella cheese. It was all incredible!
I wore the Rocco Jacket layered over the Valiant Shirt - a lightweight cotton design with an earth brown and black check - and paired it back with the Hugo Cargo Pant. This outfit balances the refined rustic essence of FLANNEL Him and the sophisticated ambience of Totti’s, if I do say so myself!
This weekend stay on the Great Ocean Road was epic, one of Australia’s most picturesque landscapes. From the shores of Grey River to the iconic coastline, every moment was a blend of raw beauty and peaceful serenity."
