In our latest Spotlight Q&A, we meet Jen Malone, the music supervisor behind Euphoria, Wednesday, BEEF and Love Story. We talk style, her recent work, Australian artists and what's on her playlist while traveling. Enjoy!
You chose the Galie Jacket from FLANNEL (available this season in the Vest style). Why was this piece in particular your immediate favorite?
I love this jacket! It’s been perfect for me as my whole design aesthetic is mostly about jeans, a t-shirt and a jacket of some sort, and this one has really taken me from the red carpet in Hollywood to a recent trip to London where I wore it most days (thankfully it didn’t rain when I was there). I’m a big fan of this port color as well, as it's perfect with black or other monochrome shades.
You've done so much for strengthening awareness of music artists from Australia through your work. Can you give us a few of your favorite Australian artists?
Well I'm definitely a huge INXS fan and I was so excited to bring their sound to a new generation when I included their work in Season 2 of Euphoria. That was a big moment for me. I think Tame Impala are fantastic, and have such a great energy to their music as well. But if I’m completely honest I’ll tell you I love, love, love ACDC! I’m a huge fan.
FLANNEL designs are hugely inspired by traveling and embracing the art of wanderlust. Where are you headed for vacation this year and what are your three recommended albums / artists for embarking upon a new journey?
My husband is Swedish so our summer vacations are always spent in that part of Europe with family. For travel playlists I can’t go past the sounds from Love Story, because those sounds of the 90s are really my generation, but the entire experience of working on that production was such a complete joy from start to finish with a fantastic team, it really just brings good energy / memories to mind when I think about it.
